JD Edwards - Create F4104 record if customer item is missing

30th May 2012

Sometimes keeping up with the JDE customer item cross-reference table, F4104, can be a full-time job.

In an EXTOL EDI 850 map, we are using an external call (‘long’ parameter list) to create a new F4104 record if the customer’s item number is received in x12 data, however the customer item number (CITM) is not found in F4104 table. The F4104 record will only be created if there is a valid long item number (LITM).

When we add the newly created record things we take into account are:

  • Ensure we are able to identify parent and/or bill-to number (AN8/PA8)
  • Ensure short item number exists (ITM) via F4101 look-up
