How to Check EXTOL on a Daily Basis

We are commonly asked what needs to be checked in EXTOL EDI Integrator on a daily basis. Below are the areas in EEI that users can check to ensure

  • Communication Errors
  • Inbound Translation Issues
  • Outbound EDI Generation Issues
  • Functional Acknowledgement reporting

Inbound/Outbound Traffic, Translation Errors

For inbound/outbound EDI, and non-EDI traffic, users will review EXTOL Connections. EXTOL Connections can be found in:

Mailroom Menu > EXTOL Connections (option #1)

If there are any communications issues or inbound translation issues, they will be identified in EXTOL Connections

Inbound EDI Translation

If there are inbound translation errors, users can goto:

Mailroom Menu > Inbound Application Data Log (option #4) 

Users only need to go to this screen if there are Translation Errors in EXTOL Connections.

Outbound EDI Generation

On a daily basis, users will want to review outbound application errors. When there is an EDI generation error, users will be able to see them.

Functional Acknowledgements

On a daily basis, users will want also want to review functional acknowledgements. errors. When there is an EDI generation error, users will be able to see them.  

Mailroom Menu > Work with Interchanges (option #2)

In the example below we are checking for transactions that received a rejection 997. We are looking for any outbound documents (Sent), sent on or after 060715, and received a rejection FA (Ack status X)

Another example of checking for rejection functional acknowledgements, would be to use the Ack Status of B. The ‘B’ stands for BOTH
