Automated FTP :: The Basics (Part 1)

31st May 2016

Clarify EEI introduced Automated FTP (AFTP) in version 6.4.

Overview

The AFTP network control scripts are designed to check for the existence of data prior to creating a connection; therefore eliminating empty connections in the mailroom (Unw-no EDI).

Best Practice

Scripts run according to groups. Groups should be set up based on how often the remote server should be polled. For example, a group can be set to poll every 15 minutes, and another to poll every hour.

AFTP Basics:

  • Create an AFTP network, port, and control script.
  • Create a group based on polling needs.
  • Customize your script in the parameter panel.

Additional Sections:

  • Part 2 - Create an AFTP network, port, and control script.
  • Part 3 - Create a group based on polling needs.
  • Part 4 - Customize your script in the parameter panel.
