EXTOL EDI Integrator - Setting up reference fields (inbound)

16th June 2012

When sending or receiving hundreds of documents in EXTOL EDI Integrator daily, it is nice to have an easy way to research / locate individual documents.

For EXTOL inbound EDI documents we have the ability to capture 3 alphanumeric values and 2 date fields. By capturing these values we can access, within EXTOL, individual POs, invoices, ASNs. This can assist us greatly when we need to follow the order to cash cycle. By just knowing the customer’s purchase order #, we can locate the inbound 850, outbound 855, outbound 856 and outbound 810.

To set-up EXTOL Integrator to capture the inbound values, go into the segment/element functions of the map. For a non-date field, we will assign M5, M6 or M7 to an inbound element. For a date field, we will use M8 or M9.

In a later blog we will review how to access these reference fields.
